Land of Red and White 1975The Metis victory at Duck Lake led to Indian involve­ment. Men from the Poundmaker and Little Pine Reserves pillaged stores at North Battleford and forced the popula­tion to take refuge behind the police barracks' stockade. By the end of March five hundred people and police were there. Dickins, of the N.W.M.P., was prepared for a siege at Fort Pitt.
